Galentine’s Day is all the reason you need to celebrate your best ladies this February 13; after all, that’s what it was designed for. It sprang into being during a 2010 episode of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, when main character Leslie Knope took all her girls out to lunch and proclaimed it “Galentine’s . . . only the best day of the year!”
Today, women have adapted the fictional holiday to their own ends, spending time with female friends, family members and colleagues in order to show their love and affection. We here at Robertson’s Flowers are here for it, and we think it should include flowers.
In its original iteration on the show, Galentine’s Day included a gift-exchange, and we see no better gift for an occasion like this than flowers. Of course your besties will be getting lots of red, long-stemmed roses and chocolates the very next day, so instead, rely on your incredible knowledge of what they like and pick out something super special. Our Winter Roses can give you plenty of inspiration.
This is really a chance to express not only how strongly you feel for your favorite ladies but also how well you know them, and to even say a bit about the character of your friendship. If you send something like Abundant Roses, for example, you’re really speaking to the vivid, infectious quality of your friendship.
The great thing about Galentine’s Day is that it can be infinitely customized, enriched and made special by the new traditions and rituals you give it.
