When the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia honored Robertson’s Flowers with its Excellence Award for “Family Business of the Year” on November 9, it was especially rewarding for us, coming as it did in our 90th year of business. In that time, our family has welcomed new members into the fold, making us a uniquely diverse group with ties to Holland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Russia, China, Australia, England, South Africa, and, of course, the U.S. Our idea of family is rich and inclusive, and we see every employee as a crucial part of who we are.
We’re proud to say that our company is run by the 5th generation of family members who were responsible for Robertson’s creation in 1927, when we launched as a landscaping firm. Then, it was a younger family member who suggested we add fresh flowers to the business. Now, we’ve built a legacy on family members enriching and advancing how we do things, and it’s that progressive, industrious spirit that we are honored to have recognized by the Chamber.
We’ve maintained a deep and abiding connection to the Philadelphia community, endeavoring to give our broader family the best fresh cut flowers and designs and to offer them the best service along the way. The “Family Business of the Year” award reminds us of how meaningful family ownership is to our communities. We’re definitely feeling the love.
